Fingerprint-IT announced today that they have installed a biometric control and tracking system at the main canning plant of the largest Soft-Drink company in Africa.
Africa’s leading soft drink vendor is now using fingerprint biometric readers and fingerprint-IT software to track all activity of their independent truckers entering the canning site. The system verifies the identity of any third party trucker entering the site, tracks their time on the site, what they pick-up, who is responsible, who verified and when they left. This produces an un-forgeable, time-stamped and lasting record of all activity on the site and effectively reduces the opportunity for illegal access or on-site fraud and crime to zero.
“We are very proud of this landmark installation” says Bryan Kimmel, CEO of Fingerprint-IT. “ It’s not that we have never done this before, we have a number of biometric systems running throughout South Africa, its just that this company is an international giant – we are talking about the worlds leading soft drink vendor here – and they have the ability to source their technology and solutions from all over the world.” Kimmel added, “What really tickles me though is that they did in fact choose a large international company to begin with and recently had to throw out the system because it just wasn’t up to the job. This makes me very proud of the products and software we provide”
Kimmel went on to explain that Biometrics is the science of using someone’s unique biological make-up to identify them. Kimmel remarked that “We all know from the movies now what Biometrics is and fingerprint access control and other biometrically driven systems are becoming commonplace. The biometrics industry will continue to expand in a world where security just keeps climbing higher and higher on the list of priorities because as far as security goes, biometrics really is the only answer. The problem is that it’s a new technology and if you remember when cell phones were still new they would drop calls all the time and you would redial – no problem. But with biometrics this kind of failure is unacceptable. These are mission-critical systems and often people’s lives we are securing. In a new technology market though, you can get burned and this company did. They are smart guys though and they persevered and with our system they have finally managed to secure and massively streamline their plant operations.”
When asked why Fingerprint-IT got the contract Kimmel concluded by saying “It makes sense. This is South Africa. Security is a huge issue. We lead the world in security systems here. At Fingerprint-IT we have spent over six years identifying the robust, capable and reliable hardware from around the world as well as writing bulletproof software to drive it in various applications. We are world leaders in this and we are PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN”
Fingerprint-IT provides biometric solutions for most applications including access control, time & attendance, computer network access, internet security, criminal population management and is about to release South Africa’s first biometric credit authentication and payment system.
